Is “feminist” a curse word?
The Church said it is.
They said women must learn to humble themselves.
That stilettos were just shoes meant to make us taller,
Not to prop our egos.
They said feminists don’t get married.
That women lawyers must leave their robes at work.
Wear aprons and smiles at home!
Lunch time companions
Are the most heartbreaking
Whenever we use that 8 letter ‘F’ word.
Armed with forks and knives,
The table becomes a battle ground
A noisy, power game
Slicing through the restaurant
The weaponisation of cutlery and words
Scrunching their noses, they frown;
As if it’s difficult to cut through
The tender yet medium rare steak
And the soft, potato mash.
They don’t identify, they say;
Is “feminist” a hate word?
