Dear children,
In a distant land faraway,
I am traversing the shifting sands,
With no place to call my home
Working tirelessly so that you, my children,
May find sustenance and abundance.
I am roaming under the scorching sun,
My skin darkened by its relentless gaze,
I was buried alive,
Yet, I am still breathing,
One sweet thought remains in my mind.
I will return home to tell the story
Of the sights I have beheld,
Of every beast encountered
In my pursuit of greener pastures.
Of every sacred mountain scaled;
In search of answered prayers
And the depths of my heart’s struggles
To withstand the dangerous storms of life,
I shall return to share my story.
Through dangerous deep valleys and vast oceans,
Seeking means of survival,
Amidst mighty storms and hurricanes,
Striving to provide you with shelter,
I will roam and wander freely,
Yet in my heart,
I will hold you with pride
For I am your mother,
A woman of courage and fortitude.
You are a part of me.
Our destinies are intertwined,
I will return home to recount my story.
For though the world may perceive me as frail,
And seek to enslave me,
I yearn to fiercely claim my place in this world
And provide you, my children, with a life of prosperity.
So let me roam and wander like a fugitive,
But know this to be true,
No matter where my feet may tread,
When they ask you about your mother,
Tell them that she will return home to tell her story.
And there I will sit,
By the warm fireside,
And share the stories I have woven,
Of starlit skies and morning light,
Of the tribulations I have endured,
Of the seeds I have sown.
I will be home, where love abounds,
And narrate my story.
